On Tuesday Clive Pig came into Year 2 to tell us about the Great Fire of London and the 1660s. When he came in he looked very strange but he had lots of very good information.

Clive Pig played lots of music
We found out that the people in London in the 1660s used chicken bones to clean their teeth! Also, we learnt that they did not have toilets. Instead they used a bucket and then threw it out of the window into the street below!
We acted with Clive Pig, making up scenes of life in the 1660s. We even acted out the Great Fire of London.

It was a fab day for the whole of Year 2 because Clive Pig was so funny and a really good actor. Thank you Clive!
We have a question for you…Would you like to have lived in the 1660s?

We can’t believe it’s nearly Christmas! We are all getting very excited. In our classroom we have chocolate advent calenders and each day we take turns to open the flaps and eat the chocolates! We have been alsohaving more rehearsals for our Christmas play which is nearly ready!

We have also been finding out more about islands and island life. This morning we had Geography and we were using atlases to find islands all over the world for example, Crete, New Zealand, Greenland and of course the United Kingdom.
We have been learning about Materials and the fact that they are all different. We found out that not all solid materials are hard and that everything can be grouped into solids, liquids and gases! Very scientific!
We have also been busy in ICT. We have been learning how to direct a turtle around using a Textease Logo programme. These girls are practicing using Textease Paint. We also have also used Espresso to research about Materials.
We have had a fun packed week and we’re sure next week will be the same!

Welcome back to Y2′s Blog! We are sorry that it has been a while since our last blog!
But….we’re back! We have been busier than ever working on our Katie Morag topic whilst also getting ready for our Christmas play!
Last Friday the whole school dressed up in spotty clothes for Children In Need. We were particularly excited because it was Fraser and Daisy’s birthdays! We had a very special day but the best bit was when we went into our Aspire groups and did lots of different activities.

All the year groups mixed up to do 'Children In Need' activities.
Year 1 now have a new classroom which looks very posh but it is not quite finished yet. It should be finished by the end of term which is very exciting, especially for the Year 1 children.
We have been carrying on with our topic which is based on the Katie Morag stories. We have met lots of different characters including Granny Island, Grandma Mainland, Mr and Mrs McColl and baby Liam. Granny Island usually saves the day in the stories, even the one our class wrote called ‘Katie Morag and the New Classroom.’ During the topic, we made up our own fantastic islands and drew maps of them using symbols.
At the start of term, when we were learning about instructions, we all planted Crocus bulbs. They are all starting to shoot so we are very excited. They are growing very well.

Our bulbs are shooting!
We hope you have enjoyed this week’s blog. Fingers crossed there will be another one next week!

We have been in Year 2 for a whole half term and look how much we have done already!

We have been learning about the artist Archimboldo and doing our own artwork including paintings and making faces out of fruit. This fitted in well with our topic which was all about healthy living.
We looked at a story about Mr Grinling the Lighthouse Keeper.
We found out that to be healthy we need to have a balanced diet, drink lots of water, get lots of sleep and do lots of exercise. Also…remember to wash your hands!
When we went to Fermoys we found out about lots of different healthy foods and where they came from.

If you have enjoyed looking at our blog please check again after half term for the next update!
Hope you have a lovely half term holiday!
